Roberts' Home Winning Streak Ends; Barret Emerges Victorious
Hanover PA-

JT Roberts had put together the kind of reputation in Hanover that not many could follow. It seemed like forever ago when Roberts lost his first two GBW matches in 2003. It was forever ago, because he hadnt lost in Hanover in 2004...until August 14. The rivalry of the year ended with a bizzare twist. The match was back and forth, until Roberts hit his 'Play of the Week' and had Barret tapping out. Khris Bishop jumped on the apron and distracted the ref from the submission. As security grabbed Bishop, Ian Cross entered from the opposite crowd and hit Roberts with the 'Holo-Cross', and then smashed Barret in the head with the 'Prep (Golf) Club'. Barret got a hand on Roberts as the three count fell. And the Preps celebrated over the fallen Roberts.
The feud between Barret and Roberts consumed GBW for the past nine months, and while it is over, one has to wonder if either of these two can really defeat eachother without DQ's or interference. The two competitors with complete opposite styles matched up well, so this match can hardly be called an upset. Barret broke the Prep Clubs recent slump by winning the championship, and appears to be the new main man in the Club.
Since January of 2004, Roberts had gone on the most impressive run in his career. He captured the GBW Breaker Title on Febuary 7, 2004 in a three way match over Barret and then-champ Buster Macabbi. From that point, he proved he could do it all; defeating all comers by adapting to the situation. From taking it to the air against Ryan Phenix, out-wrestling technical phenomenon Matt Turner, and even taking violence to a whole new level against the masochistic Ian Cross and the seeming indestructable Core, Roberts proved he wasnt a paper champion.
But thats all over now. Its time to start over and work back up to the top again.
